Orvieto is a marvellous city in Umbria, situated on the flat summit of a large butte of volcanic tuff, faity tail like and definitely worth a visit! Orvieto was populated since Etruscan times and owes its name to the Latin urbs vetus. Since then, this city has become a cultural meltin pot for art, food cfraftmanship and many more things.

The most famous monument is the Duomo. In the XIII century, Pope Nicholas IV laid the foundation stone of this amazing Cathedral, universally recognised and known for its striped sides, made of white travertine and greenish-black basalt, and for its striking blush pink and gold façade.

But in this city there’s a lot more to see, discover and love… I hope these photos will make you want to visit Orvieto!
